The District Nursing team is employed by the Primary Care Trust and works with the two practices based at Jericho Health Centre.

Their primary role is to visit housebound patients who are unable to visit the practice for treatment, however they do visit other patients in specific circumstances.

Their work involves:

  • Dressings to wounds
  • End of life care
  • Administration of injections
  • Management of incontinence
  • Assistance with management of long term conditions (e.g. diabetes)
  • Assessment of need
  • Referral to other agencies (e.g. social service, physiotherapy)
  • Advice about health issues

They can also help organise personal care (i.e. help with washing and dressing) from other organisations.

If you need someone to diagnose or prescribe treatment for medical conditions then please contact your GP.

The District Nurses do not usually visit children; for advice regarding children’s services please contact the Health Visitors.

The District Nurses receive referrals from GPs and from hospitals. However, patients and relatives may also contact them directly, tel: 01865 903061
